Project update

In December 2020, we asked you to share your thoughts on climate change and what action we should take.

Almost 800 of you completed the survey and 93 percent said climate change is an important issue.

88 percent said Council operations should be net zero by 2030 or sooner, and 87 percent said the Nillumbik community should be net zero by 2050 or sooner.

The top five actions the community believe Council should be working on are:

  1. Planning for the increasing risk of fire
  2. Planning for the increasing health impacts of climate change
  3. Planning and advocating for sustainable transport
  4. Planning for the effect of climate change on local animals and plants and;
  5. Buying sustainable products and services.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey.

The results are being used to help us develop the draft action plan which will be released for further comment late 2021.
