The Victorian Government through their ‘Engage’ website have formally released a discussion paper to inform development of a 10-Year Social and Affordable Housing Strategy.
See discussion paper for your information.
This strategy sets a 10-year vision for social and affordable housing in Victoria, which sits outside the wider housing market and is specifically targeted towards people who need it. The vision aims to deliver a generational change for people that will establish a sustainable and high performing social and affordable housing system. In turn, this will also reduce pressure on the homelessness system so that it can respond more effectively to those in need. This strategy provides a framework to guide action by those that are a part of the social and affordable housing system over the next 10 years. It complements current and emerging efforts to support Victorians in need, including homelessness responses, victim survivors of family violence, people with disabilities or mental illness, and Aboriginal Victorians.
The Victorian Government has called for written submissions from agencies, organisations and local government to the discussion paper and Council adopted its submission to the discussion paper at its Meeting on 23 March 2021.
See here for Councils submission.
Please note that community engagement by way of survey and written submissions are being accepted through the State governments Engage website has now closed.
