Proposed planning scheme amendments for the Eltham and Diamond Creek Major Activity Centres
New structure plans for the Eltham and Diamond Creek Major Activity Centres were formally adopted by Council in 2020.
Two planning scheme amendments to implement and give statutory weight to these adopted structure plans have been drafted and were presented to the Council Meetings on 14 December 2021 and 22 March 2022. The amendments are:
- Amendment C143 to the Nillumbik Planning Scheme regarding the Eltham Major Activity Centre Structure Plan (July 2020)
- Amendment C144 to the Nillumbik Planning Scheme regarding the Diamond Creek Major Activity Centre Structure Plan (September 2020).
The Council Meeting of 22 March 2022 resolved to take the necessary steps to commence the planning scheme amendments (subject to modifications to the amendments) in accordance with the requirements of the Planning & Environment Act 1987. These steps firstly include to seek authorisation from the Minister for Planning to “prepare” (i.e. commence) the amendments and then, if authority is provided, to place the proposed amendments on public exhibition.
