Consultation has concluded

Nillumbik Shire Council is committed to arts and culture through the Arts & Cultural Plan 2018-2022.

You will recall, or may have participated in, our Travelling Teapot consultations last year, that helped us develop the three goals of the Arts and Cultural Plan:

  • Public and participatory arts as an everyday experience;
  • Develop and grow creative and cultural industries; and
  • Support and promote arts and cultural activities that maximise access.

Building on the Travelling Teapot consultations, we have engaged Outside The Square Creative Consulting to undertake a Regional Gallery Feasibility Study, a key action under the Council Plan 2017-2021 and Arts and Cultural Plan 2018-2022.

The scope of the Regional Gallery Feasibility Study includes consideration of the needs of housing the Nillumbik Shire Art Collection and making it publicly accessible to our community and visitors, an audit of cultural infrastructure and industry within Nillumbik and surrounding municipalities, industry benchmarking, a cultural needs analysis, identification of possible sites, and overall feasibility analysis with a projection of ongoing costs and future impacts and implications.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the feasibility study through our two consultation summits and survey. All your thoughts and ideas will help shape the feasibility study report which is currently being prepared and which will be made available to the community in mid 2019.
